“Line Pipe” Defined as a straight pipe in a line conveying liquids or gases between two Pressure Vessels, Reactors, Heat Exchangers, Storage Tanks etc. Line Pipes are typically used in a refinery, process plants, thermal power plants etc. to transfer liquids like oil, gas, chemicals, water etc. between tanks and process equipment. Material Grades, Diameter (1/8 inch to 12 Inch) & Thickness (Schedule 5 to XXS) selection depends on temperature, pressure and corrosive nature of the liquids being transferred. Tubacex manufactures in IBF Italy a unique product BOTSP- Big OD & Thickness Seamless Pipes are generally can be up to 72 inch and thickness can be 100 mm or even bigger as per requirement. Line Pipes are generally larger than tube sizes (38.1 mm) and do not convey heat as such or a matter state (liquid to gas to solid) does not happen or no reaction takes place. Tubacex offers a comprehensive range of Seamless Line pipes in standard austenitic , duplex and super duplex and also in High Nickel alloys for all demanding environments
Size Chart being referred are typically ANSI/ASME 36.19 & ASME B36.10. Lengths are typically 5 to 7 meter Random Lengths or 10 to 12 Meter Double Random Lengths. Ends are plain (if not specified) or bevelled. Unrestricted process may also give customer advantages in terms of better surface finish as some process are strictly cold finished. Generally, pipes are hot finished only if not specified otherwise. In case of a Welded Line Pipes; Piping contractors are obliged to keep the weld line at 12’o clock position to ensure the liquid does not corrode the obviously weaker part the pipe. Also the Plant Operators are obliged to ensure that there is no static liquid in case of a shut down as corrosive liquids are more corrosive when static. Such woes/cautions can be easily forgotten with availability of seamless line pipes up to 72 Inch Diameter from Tubacex!
